Our own John Martin Fischer and Kevin Timpe have contributions that are part of a special piece in Slate Magazine that recently appeared entitled, "Is There Life After Death." There are several other interesting contributions as well. So, go check it out if you're interested!
A naturalistic proposal of what to anticipate at death, based on a Parfit-type transformation thought experiment, is at www.naturalism.org/death.htm . Don't look forward to nothingness, look forward to somethingness, just not in the context of being you. Not as comforting as immortality perhaps, but a good deal more interesting. Maybe a bit too interesting...

Well done, Tom. The way I put it is more mundane in letter, but the same in spirit: there's nothing irrational about looking forward to someone else's experiences.
