Hi all,

I wanted to alert the Flickers community about a position for next year (and potential for subsequent year renewals) in the Honors College at the University of Houston.  I have joint appointment with Honors--it's a nice, small, very diverse college within the larger University system.  The course load would be 3-3, small classes, with the hope that you could be part of our Phronesis program and teach in the Human Situation (a team-taught Great Books course).  Information about the college is available at honors.uh.edu.   Here's the official description of the position.:

Soon, the following ad will appear in the online JFP. This post-doctoral position is associated with the new Philosophy and Science of Self-Control project, funded primarily by a generous grant from the John Templeton Foundation and directed by Alfred Mele.

One year post-doctoral Fellowship, beginning Fall 2014. We are looking for philosophers with a special interest in self-control.  AOS: Philosophy of Action, Philosophy of Mind, or Ethics. The Fellow is expected to teach four courses per year in the Philosophy Department. Salary: $40,000.

FELLOW/RESEARCHER

Details The Department of Philosophy at UFRGS invites applications for one (01) position as Postdoctoral fellow researcher in Philosophy, areas of specialization and concentration open, starting between February and March 2014, pending administrative approval.

This is a one-year appointment possibly renewable for a second year. Responsibilities include teaching one undergraduate or graduate course on a topic related to the researcher's area of interest, leaving the other semester free to pursue research. That course, which lasts one semester, may be taught in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. The current monthly value of postdoctoral scholarships amounts to 4.100 reais (Brazilian currency).
